BIRD HARNESS WOES PLEASE HELP?
ok i have just bought the feather tether harness for my cockateil and i enjoy tightened it to the extent that i can just put the plastic clip together but she keeps gettingh er foot caught in the front stap wha should i do?? to tighten or no to tighten??
I'd get rid of the harness.
A bird's respiratory system isn't similar to ours. It is very easy to tighten those things too much and make it difficult or impossible for the bird to breathe.
"Get Rid of It" Why people want to "Harness" their birds I can never understand ?
Your bird could do itself serious wound as you have just said.
A bird is meant to fly not dragged around approaching an animal, because that is what happens when you fit one of these diabolical things.

Answers: The harness should fit close to a glove- not too tight, not too loose. Our birds do not like the harnesses, but if you plan to nick flighted birds outside, they are necessary. Perhaps taking it to a quality avian vet for specific directions will relief. But, please, heed the wrnings, that their ribcages are very fragile.
