Budgie/Parakeet: Is this run of the mill behavior?
I just got a Budgie and he was really involved in the store, but when we brought him home, he was really worried and he keeps hiding in the same corner. He won't guzzle or drink anything and he keeps yawning, stretching, and ruffling his feathers.
Is this normal behavior for a new bird or is he stressed out and tired(we brought him domestic around 3 PM). Could he be cold?
Agree near the other about being stressed out ...

He's very stressed. You'd be terrified of drawing attention too if you be randomly taken from everything you know and stuck in a cage around life-size animals that for all you know want to eat you. Give him some quiet time for a while; don't attempt to train him until he's comfortable plenty to climb around the cage and start chirping. For now, he's too scared to do economically with having anything else expected of him. Also, remember that birds, especially when topical, often don't like to eat or drink when population are watching. It would be easy for a predator to catch a bird that stopped in front of it to do something that requires the bird's attention.
Answers: This is normal. Remember, he was just moved from an environment that he be used to, into a completely new environment. He must be tired from all the commotion that happened nowadays.
Leave the bird alone for the first couple of days. Let him get settled into his new cage and domestic. Provide seeds, greens, and fresh water. I would also sprinkle a vitamin and mineral supplement onto his greens. When people are not constantly looking at him, he will get through.
Budgies (parakeets) generally are very hardy birds. Cold temperatures do not appear to bother them. Drafts, on the other hand, do. I would say a temperature from 68-70 degree Farenheit is good. If you are comfortable in the room without a jacket, here is a good chance that your bird is comfortable as well. Also, be certain to cover his cage at night. It will protect him from drafts (due to the falling temperature) and help him sleep better (birds are more possible to sleep when everything is dark).
yes!! he is just adjusting to his exotic environment
