Amber M,
Clearly, since you think birds take 'pregnant' you should NOT be breeding them! Birds traditionally lay eggs, not get 'pregnant'. And doesn't mean that you also, just because they mate once or twice doesn't parsimonious that they are going to have babies.
Baby birds are a huge responsibility, and they are a commitment. Most likely, you are in it for the oh-so cute infant birds. For one, honestly, they are ugly when they are under a week old! And do you hold the time, money, and space to care for them, let alone the knowledge? You clearly inevitability to actually read up on breeding, babies, and owning one.
Yo are going to need 10-12 hours of sunlight, more food/water, a nest box, bedding in the nest box, and a locked, quiet environment for them to raise their babies. They aren't just going to own babies out of no where.
And also, the male or female could be infertile, the babies could DIS (Die In Shell), they could not find their breeding nouns suitable, or they could just not feel the need to breed. You can't breed them have babies, they have to go out their own stride.
I'm a breeder, and I count even count how many times I have infertile birds, or infertile eggs, birds unwilling to mate, and birds being stuck up and not wanting to hold babies at all. It depends on the bird!
Budgies DO mate! They don't get pregnant though.
Are you certain you have one of each sex? If you do,it could be that they aren't in breeding condition. A mannish in breeding condition should have a bright blue cere and be babbling absent. A female in breeding condition will have a crusty brown cere.
Try and hand over them 12 hours of sunlight a day and play budgie sounds to stimulate them. It's preferable to have more than one pair when breeding incase you enjoy problems. Give them a nest box too.
When and before breeding they will need cuttle bone, mineral block, millet, groats and egg food.

Answers: Just shoving a male & feminine in together is no guarantee they will mate. They have feelings & emotion too...that means if they don't like the other next they will not breed.
Feeding & preening is a social thing for all birds & never determines if they will breed.
For any copier species to bond, not form friendships, can take a long time & it is also THEM who choose who they will bond to & breed with, not us.
Ummmm... budgies don't mate, and they don't get pregnant. Thay are birds and all birds (with one exception) lay eggs, the masculine then fertalizes this egg and the budgee's keep the egg warm until it hatch. You need to take a biology class and probably speak to a vet. Your information is wayyyyyyyy wrong.
