Buying a sun conure from a pet store??
Ive been reading up on sun conures,already bought a nice cage with a perch on top and toys..ect immediately im ready to purchase the conure. now i know conures are sensitive and it takes time to build trust and bond beside some.but what about a pet store conure surly they have to be the most traumatized birds random ppl sticking their hand in to the open petters in the store..ect what some pious advice on picking out a specimen? and whats the best way to gain trust??
Answers: I'm also looking for a conure. Did you know that there are a great deal of them in exotic bird rescues? Go to petfinder.com and type in your zip code. Many are without blemish sweet and socialized birds who have had an owner pass absent or move. Check it out. You'll also save 300+ dollars.
As far as bonding goes, the best thing to do is simply be around your conure as much as possible. Hold him/her lacking too many other stimuli that could be seen as threatening in a unusual environment. Try feeding favorite treats from your hand while out of the case and using a gentle voice and body language. It may take a bit, but be patient.
