Can an Adopted bird love a current owner 10 points?
This may sound really stupid but since birds mate for life whether i were to adopt one would it hate me because it love its previous owner better
No... As long as you treat teh bird rigth and near respect, it will love you. Try feeding it fruits form your hands birds love that and it may feel awful when u first get it but after a whiel it will get use to u. But u have to supply it about a week or 2 to settle in. After that feed it fruits form your paw and you'll make a new long lasting freind.
No not as long as you gain its trust and give it much love and attention. I adopted a 6 year old mimic and he has turned out wonderful. Lots of work at first to gain trust but well worth it. Get a book on the type of parrot you are adopt and also talk if possible to previous owners so you know some of the birds favorite sayings and foods and toys.
it will take time for the parrot to TRUST you,you enjoy to talk to it ,let it see you as much as possible, but it is going to mourn its old owner that cant be help ,you have to help it along, you can have a extraordinarily loving companion with pationcs and love
I run a bird rescue and I considered necessary to let you know that an adopted bird can ABSOLUTELY love its new owner! Most of the birds that rescues bring are abused so they are not bonded to their previous owners. We do have a macaw who was intensely bonded to his previous owner and it took us months to get him to bond with us. Most rescues will not adopt out birds that will be thorny to bond with another person. We have that macaw within our sanctuary. Especially getting an abused bird will increase the chance for bonding with a new owner because they be lacking that with their previous owner and they will immediately crave a bond. I would really recommend getting a bird from a rescue if that is the only entry that you are worried about. If you would like to check out our website feel free (there is a picture of the macaw I be talking about and Duncan under "cheerful endings" towards the end is the same way!)

Answers: I own a rescued bird ,5 rehomes and 1 I got from a breeder. The rescue took a year before I could handle him and 2 years for my husband to manipulate him. I've had him (The bird) for 19 years now and we are best friends, The rehomes took from a few weeks to several months to come around, The bird from the breeder took a few days. They may grieve a bit for their past natural life and owners but they eventually will come around with patience and love especially ones that own been well treated. Abused birds are a big Challenge but when you succeed with one of them you fall up with a wonderful companion.
It's not true birds mate for life . A few do but many times they will steal on a new mate.
If you do not have endless leniency or can't stand a few bites don't consider adopting a bird. Instead get a handfed ,socialized bird from a breeder. I wish you luck. I hope you find a wonderful companion. Patience and love will do the trick. Ask someone who know.
