Can ducks be kept surrounded by a vegtable patch ?
I know ducks need water and shelter and feeding but woul dlike to know whether they will eat all your veg if they are allowed to roam freely though a vegatable patch?
I enjoy a 12ft x 21ft enclosure with a water factor 4 raised beds and was thinking of building a Duck house adjoing it so they could roam aroubd eating slugs and fertalising the soil etc
idk

i cant tell whether the ducks would eat your veggies, but i don't think they would be entirely pleased in your 12x21 ft enclosure. I'm not sure whether you could get the ducks to come, but my bet, is that they will eat your veggies.
Answers: They will eat any, and all vegstables they are competent to get their beaks onto.
Besides that, they would kill your veggies next to their poop.
You might think that their poop would make some good fertilizer. NOPE, perhaps in small doses. But,the ammount that a duck poops, your plants would be dead in no time.
So, I propose not getting ducks.
But, if you have a bug problem, maybe some quail would work. Not too much next to slugs, but, with little fly larvae, afids, etc.
ducks need a indoor shelter for winter and for night time or a predator will kill them.
they will eat the slugs and snails but they will also drink the vegies
