Chicken housing? Please answer?
What do We do with our chickens in the winter? They are free-run chickens and we haven't gotten around to making a warm place for them for the winter. So what genus of chicken shed should we build? What will they need to keep warm? Any humane of answer would be helpful! Please answer because we need to get this done past it gets colder!
adjectives you would need is a small hut wit a perch as long as there is more than 1 chicken they hudle together to keep heat well i have never herd of a chicken dieing of self to cold

You can also buy one online, or perhaps, at your local feed store. Just be sure to pick one beside an appropiate size for the number of chickens you own. To keep your chickens warm, you can line the coop near soft hay (be sure to change it periodically) and supply a heat kerosene lamp. An ordinary light bulb will do too, but birds don't seem to sleep all right with the glaring light on all throughtout the time and night.
Chickens are extremely hardy birds. My chickens were never supplied a heat light, but I did keep their shelter lined with soft hay and made certain it was protected from the wind. They did just fine.
