How big is a cockatiel?

and how big a cage would one need?
Answers:    They are larger than a parakeet/budgie, but not as large as a pigeon. They entail a cage that is at least substantial enough for them to sit on a perch and flap their wings without hitting anything else within the cage or the sides of the cage. A cage i.e. 2 feet by 2 feet by 3 or 4 feet elevated would be ok. They will also need time out of the cage to exercise and play with you. They can become moderately attached to their owners. Mine would sit on my pillow next to me and preen my eyebrows. I still miss her. (she was 18 years old when she become eggbound and died while I was at work.) The younger they are when they are handled, they tamer they will be, altho even ones raised by the parents can become tremendously tame.

If bars are too wide they could get their leader stuck.
