How can I comfort a goose next to a broken wing lacking have to be in motion fundamental it?
I have a situation. I live right by a lake and I always see this goose walking around, but it never flies. One of it's wing looks like it could be broken because it kind of hangs down from its side, and whenever it flaps its wing, it hardly moves the one that looks broken. Now, I've had many fruitless experiences with geese running after me and attacking me so I am afraid to pick it up and take it to the vet. Is there any road I can help it without having to turn near it myself? I'd feel horrible to just tolerate it wander around with a broken wing seeing as winter is right around the corner, and it would have nowhere to jump. Is there some kind of organization that would come out and pocket care of the goose? I live in Indianapolis, so if at hand is anyone who can help this poor goose please let me know.
Contact your fish and wildlife organization or the local animal control. They will likely know people who will rehab it.
The goose may have angel wing, a disorder birds can be born with, a little bit approaching a physical disability. Otherwise do what Beth P says except be careful not to hurt the wing.
Answers: the best thing for you to do is find a wildlife rehabber within your area and ask them to come and get it if possible. abundant will. Call a local vet to see if they can refer you to one or call the DEC as they can. It is free. Poor goose. If for some reason they cannot can try to pick up with a net and put in dog crate and help yourself to to rehabber or vet that sees wildlife that is injured. Good luck and so good of you to support it.
Call a vet in your nouns and tell them.
Good luck!
