How Can You Tell If A Bird Is Egg Bound?

I was wondering how you can tell if a cockatiel is egg bound. We merely checked to see if she was okay, she was restful, and didn't attack us, but she is breathing a little heavy. How can you tell whether a bird is egg bound?
Hey mackenzie, this interrogate says it all xD http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?...

Your bird isn't egg bound i don't think.
leave her alone it is promising she is close to laying the egg.
if she was egg bound she would just about move and her feathers will be fluffed up and she would likely be on the floor or in a corner of the nest box\

hope this helps
Answers:    Feel her belly to see if it is hard or larger than common. Also, look at her vent area to see if it looks expanded (not necessarily open).

Do you know if she is pooping OK?

If you own a vaporizer, you might want to set it up next to her cage, dry air can wreak a hen difficulty in passing an egg.

Good luck...
