Answers: Hi it is great to know you love budgies (parakeets) too! I am a bird expert! Before I tell you how to train a parakeet you always requirement to remember to talk softy, be calm and don't move your hand around too much while the bird is on it. The first step is steal your bird (in its cage) into a quiet room. Put your hand in the enclose and let the bird get used to that. Do this while talking softly for almost three minutes every day untill the bird sits still and isn't scared of your hand. Next bring your paw up to his\her chest and say the command "up". If the bird just sits there softly push your finger against his or her chest (you may choose to use vegetables and fruit no avocado or lettues, millet spray or an model of your own for a treat). Do this untill the bird is no longer scared of stepping onto your hand. Next at feeding time because the bird is most expected hungry get the feed bowl and wrap your hand around it so the bird have to go on your hand to get the nut. After the bird eats and feels happy beside sitting on your hand and eating take a short time bit of seed and spred it on your hand. When the bird trusts you you can take your bird out of he's enclose in a room he feels comfortable in that have no open windows or mirrors. All that hard work will compensate off. I followed those instrutions and now one of my many birds is trained. I hope this help
