If I be off my two cockatiels overnight near fresh river and food -- should I cover them?
One night shouldn't be a problem one method or another- it depends on the birds. You could always cover them halfway- that way they have flimsy as well as a place to retreat. I've owned small parrots for over 25 years.
Make certain to have extra food and water . Leave a couple lights on you can cover bit of the cage and leave the rest uncovered IE the front uncovered .. How is your bird normally ? Does he frighten effortlessly ?
If not you can just cover the top and sides and leave the front and back initiate and leave a few lights on (they do NOT have to be super bright but enough to label a nite light ... Place a brighter bulb on a timer to come on and off at his normal nite time ... He will be fine next to that . Again just be sure to add a bit more food and river so that he will have :D
depends on how late you'll be home to discover them. i used to cover mine all the time but don't anymore. i work late nights so this means of access they're not covered until noon.
you should definitely cover it within case something scares them or in covering they get cold, otherwise they might not like you any more, also, if they're surrounded by a a cage put a birdhouse filled with heat up stuff in the cage, K? i have two cockatiels too, what a quinkadink :P
I would lately in case so that they dont see something and get spooked while you are not near or they might get too cold. I would defiantly cover them
I don't cover mine when I go away. I do have a small kerosene lamp that I set a timer on by his cage so he can follow a similar routine as when we are home. A nightlight would be a good model so he doesn't get night frights.
You mean leaving them during the afternoon too? If I go on vacation and leave my 3 cockatiels domestic for 2 days, I cover half of their cage so they can have cloudy to sleep but they can see light during the day. I also leave a nightlight on for them because whether it is completely dark they get spooked and thrash around the cage. They hold always been fine.
I don't because typically I am not gone just over night- it is several hours contained by the afternoon before and several hours in the morning after and mine has other been fine.
We cover the top of the finch's shut within. The parakeet's cage we completely wrap with a blanket, but we don't cover the front. So this way they're still protected from drafts, but they still win the sunshine when it comes up. :)
yes, i own a cockatiel, and to ensure that they dont have night terror (where some small noise or movement basically really freaks them out) you should def. cover them at night

It give them the feeling of self secure while they sleep , allows them to get the amount of darkness they involve each day, and allows them to get the 9 hours of serene , darkened sleep period they need for good strength. If you are worried about "night frights, you can leave a plug surrounded by night light on in the room. Other knowledgeable, for their good health, all birds should be covered at darkness. However, if you are not coming home until later the subsequent day, they should have the front of the cage uncovered. Please read my profile.
I never cover mine when I go absent. They seem to be just fine.
