Injured canary - Cant afford vet?

I cant afford vet but my canary is young and its injured. We recently had similar to 4 little babies. Theyre all grown up now.

One has developed a swollen eye. We dont know whether its been pecked or its been biten or just started scratch it. Each day it looks different. Its very red and raised around the eye, and it looks similar to it may be effecting his vision (because his eye lids are getting pushed together from the swelling)

We cant afford the vet right now. How do we fix a birds swollen eye? He keep scratching it with his feet or he rubs his director on the perch (so its pointless to remove the perch). And what are the risks if left un treated or un treated for a while?

Please help. =[
talk to a vet and see if there's anything you can do nearly it instead of going to see the vet. that's what we do when my dogs get injured. your bird might lose his sight if it stays swollen long adequate
Please newly call a vet or avian vet and explain your financial situation and your birds' situation and they can probably recommend something for you to do. Avian vets are for birds only so they should know how to help you.

Poor guy. :(

take it in to an emergency vet, and see if they can bill you. Some vet, if you let them know that you have some sort of monetary hardship, they will work with you.

Good luck!
Answers:    my parakeet have a swolled eye just few days ago.. it was around midnight when i noticed him scratch, when i looked at the eye it was red and swollen. since it was late and i dont own a car and my vet vas far . i took a parakeet and cleaned his eye up with warm sea since i had nothing else in the house. i took him to my bedroom to sleep nearby in peace since i have 5 more parrots.. he sleept resembling a baby, it was warm and subdued and he wasn't waking up at all...i woke up in the morning and the swelling go down.. it was probably just a scratch..
be in motion to a pharmacy and ask to have somethinhg for eye flushing or cleaning upo the eye they will have something over th ecounter. clean it up and preserve the birdie warm. make sure he can obtain enough quiet time alone.. good luck he will be ok
