My chickens won't lay any more eggs?
Well they laid an egg once...and we were so happy...and now they've stopped??
Is this typical?
Its been like 4 days!
yes they are chickens give them time
Once a pullet reaches readiness they will start laying sporadically at first. Many times, the eggs are small, misshapen and don't arrive regularly.
It sounds like your birds are still quite young at heart, so give them some time. Many of our layers started laying around 6-8 months, but it may steal up to 12 months for them to be regularly productive.
Also, many breeds slow or stop egg production this time of year. Chickens need 8 hours of daylight each light of day to remain productive. Days get shorter in winter, so unless you leave lights on contained by the coop for a couple of hours after dark, they may not lay steadily again until springtime.
Egg production also slows or stops altogether when birds are molting (this usually happens within spring and fall) or once the incubation process begins. A setting hen who is allowed to brood and raise chicks will often stop lay as long as she's caring for her chicks.
Extending their daylight by using indoor lighting should keep production going through the winter, but most young hens won't lay every year when they first reach maturity.
Be patient and I hope this help!
Answers: My chickens were equal way when they first started to lay. Once they get into the hang of things they'll start giving you an egg nearly everyday. Make sure their environment is comfortable for them to want to lay. They like their privacy.
I have 6 chickens, and we in a minute get about 40 eggs a week.
I'll be making deviled eggs for our family's Thanksgiving dinner!!
Don't verbs or force the chicken to lay eggs. They don't lay eggs everyday. It'll come later it's normal. That's why farmers get tons of chickens. So they can hopefully carry one everyday and do what ever they want to do with the eggs.
they'll probably lay more
they lay eggs even without males i think so they'll have more
my aunt and uncle used to enjoy chickens
it is normal for a chicken to simply lay 3-4 eggs a week. if they are young and that was its first egg laid next give it a chance because it will lay more it just is getting into a strange thing and will learn a routene.
This could be due to the fact that they aren't getting enough daylight time. Try installing a bulb on a timer contained by their coop to go on every morning from 5-8am and then again from 4-9pm.
Chickens won't produce well whether they aren't recieving enough light.
chickens go through molt and they won't lay during that time.
What are you feeding them ? Lay pulp?
is there something that is scareing them?
They will resume laying. If they are childish chickens.
I don't know... From my quick research, a chicken lays an egg approximately every 24 hours, so maybe she has a disease that may wreak her to not lay a chick, or maybe the chicken is having stress. I think I hear somewhere that that makes them not lay legs.
Hope this helps, and hope the problem gets solved!
:) :O :-)
i could be because there 2 old but wait a week or 2 and whether they dont start laying then get a couple of unsullied ones
It is normal for them to stop lay eggs. If you don't take my advice just research it or ask a friend that have chickens or if you don't just ignore the later part.
