Me and my Parents are looking to adopt a medium/large parrot and we live around Blair county Pennsylvania, we are good with birds and can provide worthy care. Please reply to this, please don't say sorry no, try at a pet store. Most of those birds are captured without permission.
Look here. You might find a rescue immediate.

Check your newspaper ads and nearby the Fourth Estate. Many have their newspapers on line. Do a Google for them. Also check out Craigslist and Kijiji . You can Google them too.
If you are not acquainted with rehomes pick your bird carefully especially the larger birds. They come carrying deeply of baggage. I know I have six rehomes and 1 abused rescue.
no birds in petstores are not capture illegally..that has been unjust for quite some time, birds you see in petstores now days are criminal bred and raised here in the united states by breeders..
first item to do is to figure what kind of bird you want there are so tons species of birds in the medium to large band..I can say quakers are illegal to own in Pa so that rules out that species which is to impossible they are fun birds..
Are you looking for an energetic bird or a laid back easy going bird.. nimble could be a mini macaw, conure or caique..laid back could be a pionus, senegal, red bellied parrot, or meyers parrot
If you do budge to a petstore you want one that specifically is a store for exotics or specializes in birds...also depending on the bird you want you could always do some looking online and find a breeder in your nouns that breeds and raises the bird you are interested in..they can be a good source of information on the species of bird you are wanting to achieve and can help you determine wether or not it will be a good fit for your family.
Answers: http://www.birdadoption.org/groups.htm.. many of the adoption places can work with you and may transport the bird if you show your learned and have the time, space , and patience for the bird.
go to the humane society. in that could be for your district, county, etc.
