My pigeon seem to hold a lame foot! Ideas on cause?

my pigeon is about 1 month old now and have not started to walk yet. we wondered why and noticed that he have a lame foot. it is turned inwards and he does not seem like he can move it at all. we own another pigeon in the coup with that same problem. any idea what is wrong beside the younger one? is the trait hereditary?
Answers:    A few reasons for leg problems are hereditary (low incidence) to humidity of the egg (too dry) person broken by momma, and the substrate they are in. Often too slippery.

Birds can live with one operating leg, especially pigeons because they don't climb. To abet the humidity problem which I suspect is the main reason, put a damp sponge contained by the nest box at the top of it so as the water dries out of the sponge it dampens the air. Don't let the sponge touch the egg or parents though.
Time to bring him to a vet. If it's happen to more than one, it could be a caging issue. Either way, he should see a vet to see if the foot can be splinted and made usable. Good luck... love pigeon noises :)
