What big-hearted of human food can i nurture my budgies (parakeets)?
the guy at the pet store suggested to feed them some veggies to keep it healthy, but i don't know which ones are the best for them?
please minister to me!
from what i own heard colorful veggies. bananas, cabbage, carrots[mine hate]. etc.
If you were to feed lettuce use a cos lettuce not an iceberg as it does contain 99% water which will dispense your birds the runs and the acid from that will burn their vents - Also celery contains no nutrition value at adjectives best to use the leaves ...
Freddy has given you a great list Mine go uncultivated over wild grasses and seeded grasses Grated carotts scrambled eggs with out the milk ;) spinach and I even put together them a bird bread up
HERE ARE SOME THINGS TO AVOID
Alcohol Chocolate Avocado Apple seeds and all fruit seeds Are TOXIC to budgies and should NEVER be feed.
Onion,Asparagus Cabbage ,Rhubarb (including leaves)
Dairy products Raw potato Crisps (Chips) or other high salt human foods Human Breakfast cereals containing Zinc
If you are going to nurture berries like raspberries and strawberries make sure they are 100% natural - As they have a thin layer the pesticides can creep into that and be soaked in the fruit .
also some dried fruit that contain sulfites.
If in doubt check with your local vet
Answers: Greens and/or weeds: Beet leaves, Bok-Choi, Broccoli and/or Cauliflower leaves, Cabbage leaves, Collard greens, Chards, Dandelion leaves, Kelp, Mustard leaves, Seaweeds, Spirulina, Turnip leaves, Water cress.
Fruit (except Avocados which are toxic): all Apple varieties, Banana, adjectives Berries varieties, all Citrus varieties, Grapes, Kiwi, Mango, Melons, Nectarine, Papaya, Peach, adjectives Pear varieties, Plum, Star-fruit. Pits and seeds from every Citrus and Drupe species must always be discarded as they are intoxicating. However, achenes and tiny seed from pseudo and true Berries (Bananas, Blueberries, Elderberries, Eggplants, Persimmons, Pomegranates, Raspberries, Strawberries, Tomatoes) are all okay
Vegetables (except Uncooked Potatoes, Uncooked Onions and all Mushrooms): Beet, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Carrots, Cucumber, all Cabbage variety, fresh Beans, fresh Peas, Parsnip, all Pepper varieties, all Squash variety, Sweet potatoes, Tomato, Turnip, Yams, Zuchini.
Almost any it just depends on whether they like it or not. Greens are pretty safe, celery, cucumber etc. NO avocado, and not too much lettuce. Because lettuce is so river based it will give them the runs and Avocado will kill them.
sliver beet, apple, little lettuce (not greatly as it's not the best thing to give them), some weeds from the garden such as dandelion. craft sure that whatever you give them you valet before you give it to them and you also remove it by the end of the morning if they have not eaten it adjectives, as it will go off and can be then detrimental to your birds.
