When should i start training my copier?
Kind of a extension to my previous question. Anywhooo i just get my Quaker Parrot about 3 days ago and he is very friendly but is very attached to his coop. He doesn't like coming out of his cage and obviously doesn't know how to do tricks or listen even so. I was curious when i should start using the clicker to train him, and what is the best way to start making him obey nouns / tricks. Should i wait awhile until he knows how to "Step-up" first? Or should i start now even though he doesn't know how to Step-up.
wait about a week or so...here is a connection on taming brids hope it helps!http://parrotcentral.net/how_to_tame_a_s...
No don't do too much yet. Let him obtain use to your house and his new cage. Let him get au fait with your hand when you change his wet and feed. Go to the site below, it is the best site out there. I followed the steps on the webpage, and everything when smooth, I now enjoy a beautiful bird that I can play with and enjoy hi company. Hope everything go alright.
Answers: No. you entail to give him a week or so to settle properly. If he's scared still & you push it, you could make things worse. Give him some time & don't expect him to go underwater into it all straight away. he's just be removed from the home he's previously only known & shoved into a strange domestic with strange people.
I own a quaker you want to started now before he gets to know the round up good.If you don't you will see why.
i was in this same situation about a yr ago.. i take in everything you may be going through. i had added an african grey parrot to my family.. he be very attached to his cage also. i gave him a week to kinda revise to our home while in his cage. you know simply to get used to the sounds and actions around the house. then i open his cage and he was hesitant to come out at first so i a moment ago left it open. bout 10 mins later he be sitting on top of his cage.. when we wanted him up we would put a treat contained by his cage and he would go back surrounded by. bout a week later he started stepping up for a treat and going potty in the potty place! within months he be talking and singin and just dancing for us. so only let them adapt in their own means of access. dont push them into doing anything, you will know when its the right time.
