Maybe you can find one at a shelter.
In our area there are often ad selling canaries in the want ad section of the newspaper. Usually listed under pets. Also you can google Craigslist ,find your city and look under pets. Do alike with Kijiji. You can also place a free wanted ad whether you sign up on these sites.

At my petco and also my petsmart they have them, also maybe a local bird shelter :].
