Where can I find a perfect breeder surrounded by my state?
I want a cockatiel for christmas. My mom, yesterday called pet smart to see if they have cockatiels. They don't. How do I find one contained by my area?
Birdbreeders.doesn't help me.
pick up a BIRD Magazine - they have ads for breeders in them..
pet stores are the WORST places to win pets. any pet..
shelters are the BEST - oftne a good deal cheaper too and might even come with the pen
tell your mom, I am a mom too, and would adopt a bird from a shelter for my daughter - I woudl NEVER BUY ONE from a pet store
Definetly adopt! Try writing them a persuading letter note you will take good care of and verbs it's cage everyday. If that doesn't work try persuading them in person. After trying that I would loaf a few days and try the process again. It worked for me!
Oh and try to find out as much as possible about cockatiels! On www.petfinder.com they have plenty of birds waiting for a forever home!

Answers: All right, well first of adjectives there is an overabundance of cockatiels in this country already, so, like the relatives said before me, don't buy from a pet store. I used to work at Petsmart and the cockatiels they shipped to us were so MEAN. Petsmart is out of the question.
I found deeply of help at avianbiotech.com. I'm from Oklahoma and even found 2 pages worth of breeders here! Or you can go to google or yahoo and type within "cockatiel for sale in ________" (your state). Unless you live in California or Texas, you can generally find someplace close. Most people use the internet to sell their birds because it's free.
You know your mom better than I do, so all I can articulate is just try to be as mature as possible and ask her to try giving you a chance at man responsible for the life of something else. And tell her that YOU are going to be the one to feed it and verbs its cage once a week and take care of it every daylight. parents a lot of times feel like their child's responsibilities are only just going to end up as their own, so you must prove to her that this is not the case.
When you get to the shelter, you must find out as much information more or less that cockatiel as possible. If this bird has been abused and is not friendly, I would advise waiting a while since you are younger (i don't know how ancient you are, I got my first bird at 8 years old and it was an abused quaker copier... I still have the scars because I was impatient). The most a cockatiel should cost is $25, particularly since you're going to be getting it from a breeder or a shelter.
