Why do birds move surrounded by "spurts"?
I just saw a Blue Tit in a tree outside the fanlight, and it was moving in spurts, very briskly. Anyone know why?
Answers: Not all birds do. It's the little ones that make for easy pray that move close to this. Have you ever tried and watch a fast moving bird jump around for a long time. It is thorny to keep track of where he is. If the bird moves fast and hasty then there is less uncertainty of that big hawk seeing where he moved to. One minute he's there the next he is gone.
It's shelter.
Birds are very fragile, quick animals. Things on the forefront of their minds are survive, eat, breed.
It's innate for them to move quickly to one place, quickly scan the area for food and predators, and after fly or run to the next place.
