Why does it give the impression of being that everybody who have cockatiels, budgies and lovebirds want to breed them?
These are the most common birds in animal shelters, rescues and given away on classifieds. Just because they breed readily, why do so oodles people feel they have to breed them?
Mostly because they like the babies. then they grow up and give them absent or sell them. people don't realize how noisy, messy and the maintenace that comes next to a bird. and that they live or can live to be up to 20 plus years. That is how they end up in a shelter. same as dogs and cats.
because people think it is easy money They do not realize what is involved surrounded by responsible breeding and They do not see just how many of these birds are given away to discouraging homes and how many are mistreated each day within the US
Honestly that is why I only come on this site for a short period i grasp so upset that people just think lead to they have two birds they can toss in a box and make a dollar never have a clue about health and food needs and they do not realize that plentiful of the birds they get from shops are related and will have messed up babies IF the babies live
IT is really SAD.
I wish more folks would read and swot up and spend time helping at a bird rescue It would be such a help.
I bred lovebirds and canaries when I first started out My grandad was a breeder way stern and so I had someone teach me the important things. i have a lovebird not want to feed a chick and spent a week waking every 2 hours to keep that newborn alive I got the reading online the horror stories and volunteered at a rescue and I never bred again.
I wish more folks would read and see how many involve homes or are tossed out like trash
Oh and the poster who claims to know where every birds is Yea i doubt that. i know rescues who have contracts and still wrap up up after checking homes out really well they discover a bird is rehomed against the contract. I know one lady had a bird she get at a rescue She sold it a year later the person who bought it sold it and it ended up put money on in the SAME rescue The rescue had the bird microchipped.
So do not even believe that you can be SURE about every one you put out near You may make a effort and that is great Sadly though MANY do not Just read some on this site and see for yourself. There is a woman on craigslist handing out lovebirds she has too many She have too many 8 months ago and handed them out then too. Why not whether you can not keep them STOP breeding. That is the type person I am sure this post is intended for Not those who know what they are doing and are responsible
why does it give the impression of being that god is a jerk
Hey,
Exuse me! I breed budgies and cockatiels, and none of my birds end up within shleters. I have a contract so that if whoever buys my birds doesn't want them any more, they bring it back to me!
Answers: possibly they think it's cute that the birds have babies. but it's so awful. in attendance are so many birds that need a good domestic and people are making it harder to find a home for all of them. i hold a bird but i'm never going to breed any animal.
