Why does my Amazon bird disgust me.?
About six months ago my bird loved me. She would let me hug her, hold her, and she would even let me kiss her. But now every time I put her surrounded by my room she screams she can't even stay in it. Before she loved my room. And every time I take her out she bites my mitt or flies away she always thought me as her favorite. She always ignore my hand when I try to take her out. I love her and I feel doomed to failure that she doesn't love me. I don't know what to do I cry a lot because I feel I don't give her love that she deserves. i enjoy many pets. Is it jealousy? I think I should call round the vet can it be really serious? I really need your help to answer.
Answers: Sopunds close to hormones. If so, she should grow out of it in a short time. BUT, hate to read aloud it, some birds do not grow out of it and have to be sold off to a breeder as a breeder bird only, never to be a pet again.
Did she enjoy a bad experience in 'your room"? Does she let you love on her within other parts of the house. Is she agressive to others in your home- both people and pets?
Try just concerned to things that could have changed in the past 6 months and try not to clear the same things happen nagain in her time if that is what may have stressed her.
Don't impart up on her yet! Keep showing love and see what happens.
okay you dont say how ancient the bird is ,but it could be hormones and she wants to breed . an amazon is a bird that can be highly agressive and my friend had one and because she be not watching properly the amazon killed her ringneck and she has never forgotten it . I think that conceivably if you think back you own not spent that much time with her . female birds can be highly agressive during hormonal period .I would have her checked out by an avian vet and make sure she is okay first and consequently try and spend alot of time with her .
