Why is my cockatiel itching?

Please no immature or irrational responses. My bird rubs his butt on his water bowl. My guess is that it itches because it's a consistent thing when he starts doing it. What can breed a bird itch other than mites? Mites are supposed to visible so I checked under his feathers but didn't find anything.

HOUSE PLANTS! Some house plants can be allergic or something to cockatiels. Do you have any house plants in your domestic? If you do, get it to a vet FAST. Cockatiels can die quickly without you knowing it is sick.

Answers:    check his droppings for worms. most indoor birds dont obtain this problem... but if he is EVER around any other birds it might be. There are OTC bird wormers.
