Why is my womanly shih tzu humping my Golden Retriever?
Hello!
Just a few moments ago, I noticed my 5 year old female shih tzu, trying to mount, and humping my feminine golden retriever puppy (20 weeks.)
Is this my one dogs way of trying to show her dominance? She is also not fixed (but will be soon.) Could her being unaltered be another reason?
We do own another male dog in the house, but he is fixed. Any idea?

They probably have be studying the birds & the bees thing & wanted to try it out.
It could be a display of dominance, or she might be in grill. I saw one of my female dogs do that to the other female dog years ago. It was an loney incident, and seemed to happen suddenly. There were no power struggles between them, so it may hold been purely sexual. This doesn't mean that she's a lesbian though. Same-sex sexual contact between two animals of the same sexual characteristics is common for a variety of reasons, one of which is the nouns of a sufficient partner of the opposite gender.
Answers: yes it's a dominance thing, nothing to worry approximately I had a female dog that used to try and mount and hump our cats.
Its a dominance thing. But once she gets fixed, it will probably grasp better. (this is in the birds section)

i have to shi tzus and my elder shi tzu does the same thing to my younger one. im pretty sure its a dominance entry. i would not worry about it. its just a realm issue and it wont get anymore serious than that
maybe she desires to do it already
