Will my chickens be ok?
can you put 2 month old chicks with two 5 month old chickens?
they live surrounded by a 3x3m enclosure at night but graze the garden during the day. will they know how to look after themselves or do i need to introduce them slowly
It would be wiser to introduce them slowly, and keep the chicks absent till they're bigger and can fend off for themselves.
Introducing "new" birds will upset the ladder. The chickens will squabble to establish their place. It usually doesn't last long, but I construe you would be better off waiting another month, until the younger chicks are a bit bigger and better able to defend themselves.
they should be fine, but go ahead and study their first interactions to make sure
Assuming they are all females, it depends on the character. There is a chance that the older 2 will take on the mother role of the younger ones or they might possibly freak out. Introduce them slowly and see how the elder ones react. Hope this helps! :-)
Yes they will! Just separate them whether the big ones start attacking the little ones. As long as there isn't much of a size difference they should be fine.
If the little ones don't dare to approach the feeder put the feed under an upturned bucket and cut a gap big enough for little ones to get through.
As long as the older chicks are not pecking the younger they will be fine.
Answers: Introduce them slowly.
Because some chickens are territorial which means they will pick on the new one.
They do this because they cogitate there is not going to be enough food or water for adjectives of them.
So just start slowly than gradually they will like respectively other.
It will take around 2 weeks for them to like each other or sometimes more.
