1 mother and 4 kittens surrounded by my backyard! New York?
The other day I saw a mother and around 3-4 kittens (it was dark)
second time I saw them playing on my driveway which connects to my backyard, as soon as they saw me they run (this time I had only seen 2-3 kittens; probably the mother 2)
Today be my third time I seen them but ONLY the kittens in my backyard (3 of them), and I put some milk for them outside..
I'm not certain if the kittens belong to someone (my backyard connects with 5 other backyards, the kittens don't hold tags, nor does the mother have a tag. So what should I do? where on earth can I find the "animal people" number? anyone know?
I am just worried about them, I don't have much knowhow about cats. Will they be able to survive in the cold? (the kittens are a bit big now)
They may be feral, which in that case don't send for animal control. When animal control is called out for feral cats they are just put to sleep, better to do a catch , fix, consequently release. Call around to local vets and see if anyone will do it cheaply and they can also provide you with secure traps for them.
1.) Don't feed them cow milk. You'll singular make them sick. There is milk replacement available in the pet aisles you can stick out. If the kittens are larger than an apple, they may be eating regular food. You can put drizzling food out too.
2.) Go to petfinder.com and type in your zip code. It will bring up different shelters in your nouns. (You may have to scroll through one shelter's list to get to the subsequent shelter.)
3.) Either you or the shelter can live trap them. Probably best to have the shelter do it.
Answers: I would go to your county services web site. Are the kittens friendly, or do they act uninhibited? If they are feral cats, they should be fixed to insure they don't make more feral cats. If you are worried you can leave out something they can use for shelter, and some cat food
Call your animal control office to find out what they do, where on earth i live they will provide you traps, and you bring the cat back in the trap, they will fix it, and allow you to release it, and this won't cost you anything.
these might be feral cats so don't go out and get them your self look on the enter net for the number.u ask I answer.
