Any domestic remedies for a cats foot sprain or injury?
I'm asking here because I don't have the money to take him to a vet. DO NOT RECOMMEND THAT I TAKE HIM TO A VET please. I know I should... but I can't afford to take myself to a doctor whether I was shot, much less a cat. That said, my cat, Cain, has a impossible front paw injury in the lower joint and cant walk on it. There are no puncture wounds or scratch, and no visible swelling. He can't put any pressure on it, and physically reacts when I try to bend it straight. It seems to be confined to that nouns, as I moved every other joint with no reaction from him. Given this, I believe it's out of danger to say that it wasn't a car accident, as here would be a wider extent of damage. Probably not a fight, as there is no broken skin. I can solitary assume that he jumped from to great a height or got caught while running. Regardless of how, I'm curious whether anyone knows of any OTC feline (or equivalent) pain/anti-inflammatory medicine. I can hold him somewhat confined... but this is a cat we're talking about... and an extremely active, vivacious one at that.
Thank you,
Joshua
I know you said not to suggest to take them to the vet ... but may I make a suggestion, from experience? We adjectives love our pets and I know how hard it is when you cant afford to get them to the vet. Sometimes things come up unexpectedly ... or you use to be able to rob them and then you lose your job or something like that. So trust me, I know how knotty it is to know you should take your cat to the vet but can't. Let me just suggest something that worked for me a few years ago and presently I never have to think twice about the cost of a vet when my kittys stipulation to go. Even if you live in the city ... try looking around for a " country " vet. I have a vet for the longest time in the city and wow $$ yikes. When I came into some money trouble and the cat got sick, they wouldnt work next to me at all. So I happened to come across a vet that was out contained by the country about 30 minutes away from me. Not only be his prices reasonable ... but if I couldn't pay it ... he'd bill me and allow me to bring in payments, even if it was $5 a month. He's still my vet til this day. You may not return with the same perks you do at a high train vet but country vets are VERY compassionate when it comes to getting your pet treatment and allowing you to pay in time.
Good luck to your kitty!
Probably the best thing to do is just let it alleviate on its own. How long has it been hurt? It might look worse than it is. It could be broken, or it could just be a sprain that will alleviate on its own. Its pretty much impossible to try to put the leg in a splint by yourselt. Here, ask your question on this site. http://www.allexperts.com/browse.cgi?cat... It might be of more help. They hold always helped me in the recent past.
Answers: No, here is no such thing. A bone could be broken - how can you diagnose or treat that at home?? Do you think there's a mode to magically build a home xray machine? And why on earth are you trying to "bend it straight" - ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!
If you can't afford to thought for your cat when it's injured why on earth do you allow it to roam around outdoors when the likelihood of getting injured is SOOOO much higher?
The best entity for this cat would be for you to immediately surrender him to a no-kill shelter so that a) he can get the immediate thinking he needs and b) someone with the means to supply for him can adopt him. Pets are a RESPONSIBILITY not a right. If you can't afford to care for your cat - you have no business have him.
1 - don't impart him anything for pain. Cat's are very sensitive to medications, and don't tolerate aspirin, advil, tylenol, etc. Also, by giving him headache medication, he won't be able to sense the pain factor as much, thus, hurting it even worse.
#2 - keep him confined, a bathroom works. Put his litterbox, food, wet, and plenty of blankets for cushion in with him and keep him confined for a few days. He may hurdle on the counters and what not, but it's better than full run of the house. If he just tweaked it, he should be better in a few days. Watch for swelling. Hopefully, the confinement will do the trick!
