Any warning how to win my cat to quit "licking"?
I am wondering if anyone has any good view how to stop my cat to lick my (or my family's) hands or arms? She does it all the time if she sits on my knees, and often when I am stroking her while she is on the floor.
I know she intends with it to clean me, and she does it out of pure pious will, to requite our efforts by stroking her, because in her mind stroking resembles of cleaning others or when her mother used to verbs her while she was still a baby, but I'd prefer her to stop doing it with me.
I've be a cat lover/cat owner all my life, and most of the time I was competent to teach them sufficiently, but I have no luck with her so far, and here is no way I am gonna lay hand on her because of that. Is anyone have a virtuous trick or something which will take her desire to "clean" other humans?
For your info: She is about 10-12 month old, lives surrounded by the garden (and before you say anything about it is considered usual here in Eastern Europe), and she is a black and white brindled tabby.
I had a licker too but it was my face & organizer it turned out after I asked my Vet that the licking came from wanting my scent not just cleaning it's a compliment to U I only have 1 that did this my other ones didn't My licker lived for 16yrs I'm surprised I'm not bald ha ha
I am also a cat lover and have 2 myself.
Well first shes pretending that shes the mother and that your her kittens. The mothers often verbs their kittens.
A way is maybe put something bad/strong smelling such a vineagar or lemon juice where on earth she usually licks. This should keep her absent.
And in fact she is actually person a loving and caring cat, cause she's doing that cause she loves you.
Hope this help!!
Answers: You want your cat to love you, but not lick you. Put something that tastes bad on your arms but not something that stinks, otherwise she'll never come by you. Cats despise cayenne pepper, so try that, if you want. Or you could get some spray stuff that cats hate. They get rid of it at pet stores and I think it's called "No!". It's cheap and it usually smells fruity and it's not dangerous for fabrics.
put lemon or vinigar on your hands that should make her not want to lick you
