Anyone ever used softpaws?
i feel that declawing my new kitten would be horribly mean, but at alike time i don't want him scratching up furniture. he has two different scratching posts. i'm simply wondering has anyone ever used softpaws? what was your experience and will they fit on a small kitten?
I applaud you in your declaration - declawing is mean and cruel. They remove everything up the first knuckle - ouch! I have used Soft Paws on my cat Dublin - they worked very economically. They have three different sizes based on the weight and age of your cat. They stir on and stay on for 6 weeks.
Another product you can try for your furniture while your kitty is using the Soft Paws would be double sided clear sticky tape. Cats HATE things being stuck to their feet - so this may educate them to avoid the couch all together.
I hope this helped! Good luck!
i used softpaws on my oldest cat when he be a kitten until he was old enough to go and get declawed. i hated them. they worked ok for a little while, but they would fall stale one by one, so i was having to put them back on on a daily basis. i wouldn't notice they were off until he would start scratch, so then it was too late. he didn't really give the impression of being to mind them though, you have to have a restrained cat to be able to put them on. if your cat squirms a lot or doesn't close to you clipping their nails, they're not gonna sit still for you to put them on. it can be very difficult...probably need 2 ancestors.
i would recommend them if you are against declawing. i personally am for declawing, and have 2 of the happiest, most playful, declawed cats. they enjoy very full lives, and do not even remember they don't have claws!
Answers: I use Soft Claws, and they are great. I buy them on ebay where they are a touch cheaper. Just be sure to trim the nails first, and use a fair amount of the gum. They are really a great thing, and they do have kitten size. But to be certain- look online for the sizing chart, download and print it. you hold it up to the kitten's nails to check. he may be capable of take size small. good luck. try them, they are worth every penny if put on correctly.
i've never tried it but i enjoy heard about the caps that you put on their nail. i have never used the either but i have a friend that uses them and her cat doesn't even deed like they are there. at first it would shake its paws around but she solitary puts them on him when he wants to scratch the furniture she may not have to use them anymore, you would reflect they would eventually know better.
