Anyone try Bach rescur remedy on "pets" - companions? Results?
Yes, for the most part it works well. I know a couple who had a rex surrounded by the show that had a bad experience as a kitten. He was enormously uptight as an adult. They tried it on him and he's showable now and more relaxed and also got his Grand Championship.
Yes I have used Bach Flower Remedies on cats - sometimes near great success, particularly when combined with Feliway artificial pheromone diffusers. I enjoy the full box set of remedies (there are 38 different ones) and mix them according to whatever problem I am trying to solve (you can mix up to 6 remedies together. Rescue Remedy is more of a "one size fits all" remedy which is fine, but for more specific problems you need the individual essences. There are plenty of books available on the subject which tell you which remedy is the right one to use.
Answers: I have used them many times over the years. I feel strongly that every animal owner should enjoy a bottle of Rescue Remedy in the house for emergency situations (pain, trauma, and before taking them to a vet for treatment). RR is under $20 from a form food store or pharmacy and can sit on a shelf for several years and be ready when you need it.
You can put three or four drops on a cat's fur between his ears applying maybe twice surrounded by a half hour before putting them in a owner for a vet trip, giving fluids or other medication. If you put the drops on your fingertips first you will also be "treated". A stressful situation with an animal makes the owner tense and bashful which the animal picks up on readily.
I have used individual Bach essences - Walnut for change, Wild Rose for an animal apathetic because of chronic illness, Larch to build self-esteem, Cherry Plum for an animal that overgrooms, etc.
I really approaching the combination essences that you can get from http://www.spiritessence.com Dr. Jean Hovfe uses Bach, Rocky Mountain and the FES essences. If there is something in the combination that the animal doesn't call for it is just ignored and with abundant essences your chance of hitting the mark with one of them is greatly increased. Her combinations come to around $22 beside shipping costs from CO so you get a lot of bang for your buck. Combining your own Bach remedies can parsimonious a $50-$60 investment.
With dogs the essences can be added to their water as they drink so much. With cats (who are not great water drinkers) it is best to put them directly on the fur. I would do that with birds, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, etc. simply to be sure that the animal gets a good dosage.
Essences are enthusiasm medicine and need to be used INTENSELY for a ten-day or two week period for best effect. Always shake the bottle ably before applying. Every fifteen minutes for emergencies. They can NEVER do any harm and a small bottle will progress on for a long time. There is no need to be sparing in your use of them.
Yes I own. I was very impressed.
