Can a cat catch seperation anxiety?
My cat was an indoor cat. He lived in the house with me until he started have behavioral problems and my landlord told me I could keep him in the garage. By behavioral problems I be determined going to the bathroom where ever he felt like it. I even have to replace the carpet and no matter what I did (took him to a trainer, repremanded him when he went within a bad spot and rewarded him when he used the box, took him to the vet, etc) he still wouldn't stop. So I was allowed to keep the cat whether he stayed in the garage attached to the house. I bring him in all the time to stop by but he has to go out when im sleeping, not home, or can't money attention to his every move. But everytime I put him back out out he screams and yowls for what seems resembling forever. So my question to you is do you think he is getting like seperation anxiety from not human being able to be around me? Before he went to the garage he was near me all the time because I work from home. He is 8 and a 1/2 months old and I be there when he was born and raised him because his mother died shortly after giving birth at the vet office.
Yes Cats can get seperation Anxiety. Especially at a young age. They look up to whoever gives them attention and they memorize their voice and when they dont hear it or see them they start off to spaz out! Trust me i have 5 cats and they all have it!
I don't think you are being disinterested to your cat. Many reasons could have caused him to urinate on your floor but you don't mention whether you try to find out answers. Does he urinate on the garage floor? Please find this cat a good home. Living in a garage for the rest of his energy, which could be another 8 years is cruel and unkind.
I wouldn't like it if somebody stuck me within a garage.
Cat entail to have that closeness! Have you had him fixed yet?? If not that could be the defence hes going in the house hes marking his territory from the cats external!! our cat started doing that and after we had him fixed he never did it again!
Answers: sounds like he really hates human being in the garage, if he was used to your company consequently it is really hard for him to adjust. Normally there is a reason why cats do not use the litter tray. It is purely really difficult to find out why.Have you tried different types of litter or a bigger tray. Otherwise it sounds as if he would be better where he can live outdoors like on a smallholding, he would have shelter but be outdoors.
I had a cat that would not eat when I went on time off. (my room mate was feeding him)
SO i WOULD SAYYES!
