Can anyone explain to me what type of temperament a Ragdoll cat have?

My cousin had one.. it loved to snuggle and would simply lay on your lap for hours... this one had a very sweet loving temperament and loved one in human contact as much as possible. I've always wanted to bring a ragdoll cat ever since then! It wasn't prissy like most cats, it was friendly and didn't bat or bite at you.

They are pretty straightforward going but really are no more different in temperament then any other cat. I show cats, so see them all the time. I've other seen them act up in shows and be complex to handle.

Its a myth they are "ragdoll" like. They have a atmosphere energy level - not hyper and not laying around adjectives the time.

They have a docile temperament.
Very easy cat usually. Very affectionate, not given to tear around the house like an idiot (I have a mongrel like that!).
They tend to shift limp when handled. Have little sense of danger so not a devout choice if it is to be allowed outside access being the sort of cat which will curl up to sleep surrounded by the middle of the road.

I have a ragdoll. He's the best cat i've ever had - and i've owned a few. He's very loyal and bonded intensely closely to me. He's like my shadow - never away from my side. When I get domestic from work, he's at the door waiting.
He's very tolerant, and puts up with a lot of playful playful by my housemate. He has his frisky moments though, and still gets pretty annoyed on occasions. He's still a cat after adjectives, but for companionship, he's the best i've ever had - you can't surpass a ragdoll for that!
They are designed to be one of the most placid cats around, although I have never met one to confirm this for you.

they truly are the lovers of the cats
they are the ones that meet you at the door
they are the ones you trip over because they are all just about people
they are needy in channel though so make sure you have a plenty time to devote to them
the ones that plop right down on top of you to be petted
they are also laid back though and dont require a lot of vim
they are not jumpers
they are massive though
and with this comes medical problems
although these guys are truly the most lovable cats they have greatly of medical dispositions from heart conditions to arthritis
they generally dont live as long as say a DMS would also

however they are great cats and even with adjectives the medical problems would recommend one
however i want to also recommend that you get your ragdoll from a rescue or shelter
petfinder is a great site but just simply searching for ragdoll rescues you will find a slew of associates out there that have gorgeous ragdolls and yes even kittens too that need great homes particularly now with this economy
