Cat allergies! Is near anything we can do?

My boyfriend whom I live with is allergic to cats. He seems to be alright with kittens, but full grown cats make him sneeze, get stuffed up, and dry itchy eyes. (If they touch him or he touches stuff covered in cat hair)

I love cats and really would like to gain one. Is there anything we can do to get around this lol? Air filters? Certain cat breeds? Certain shampoos? Anything? Im considering a balding cat lol Does anyone else who own cats have allergies to them? What do you do?
Well I have asthma and is not some suppose to own furry animals I pay for it sometimes go to the doctor to get checked out to be on the not detrimental side.Sorry to say this but you might have to get rid of the cat possibly a fish or you can leave the cat out side or get a hairless cat.
People aren't allergic to cat HAIR - it's the dander. So no, a hairless cat would not eliminate allergies. They also START at about $1,000 - do you hold that kind of money?

Have your boyfriend go to the doctor and get a prescription for allergy meds. I own several different allergies and recently developed an allergy to one of my cats. If I take Allegra D daily, though, I'm fine. He can also try some of the allergy meds you can buy lacking a prescription - Zyrtec, Claritin, etc. One of these might work for him and he may not have to get a prescription med.
I would recommend not getting a cat! After all, there really is no way to avoid the cat 24/7! Unless you want to receive a kitten and then give it away subsequent on, but that might be hard since you probably would have already grown close to it!
Hairless kitty could help but I'm not sure. I have four cats and an aunt who is allergic that visit a lot, I just vacuum frequently and super super anally. A lot of people are allergic to the dandruff and not actual down, so a hairless cat might not do the trick. But a lot of vacuuming can keep reaction to a minimum.
i work in a animal shelter

im allergic to cats and dogs

i tske zyrtec and hold inhallers...
Try allergy medication. But most people are allergic to the dander not the fur, and bald cats (sphynxs)still have dander so most likely that wouldnt help your sittuation...but for certain try allergy meds. like zyrtek(i think thats how you spell it) or claritin
Answers:    I have had cat allergies adjectives my life, but I love them. I have 2 cats at home in a minute, and I take a few measures to keep my allergies at bay. First, I enjoy short-haired cats and bathed my cats before bringing them into my home, and they get a tub every few months on a regular basis- I know people think it's weird to hip bath cats, but it keeps their coat nice and reduces shedding and dander. (If you don't feel approaching this is something you can do at home, find a vet or groomer who does cats and take them in periodically.) Second, I preserve my cats strictly indoors - no roaming in the yard (or anywhere else) - that way they are never bringing outdoor allergens into the house. My cats bring back brushed regularly, and I wash their bedding often. I can tell you that I have an allergy flare-up for the first couple of days w/ my first cat, but after that my system seems to have adjusted and I've be fine. I do take Zyrtec for allergies in general because I enjoy many indoor and outdoor allergies, so this may help w/ the cat allergies - I'm not sure. Good luck - hope this help.
stay away from cats : )
