Cat emergency oblige please?
Where could I speak to a vet (for free) where they won't tell me to bring him into their office? I already own an appointment in 2.5 hours but I need direct advise presently. I'm cat sitting and I need to know wether I should take the cat to it's home 2 hours absent (if he needs to be put down) or if I should stick with my appointment because it might be something fixable?
there r so several things that could be wrong but i would call the owner first then take it to the vet
I would think that any vet clinic would give you a rough over the phone conversation of options. Didn't the owners go off a vet number in case of emergency? If not stick with your appointment, sometimes what seem a crisis turns out to be manageable. There are vets on-line but they charge around $ 9.00 a question. Call vet clinics surrounded by your area, sometimes the smaller the listing the better chances of getting a vet tech/receptionist to lend a hand with your questions & symptoms. I'm sorry about your long drive & withdrawal of back-up in an emergency, but I would side with the possibility that the cat could brand a recovery. Good Luck
If it's an emergency, forget about the appointment and take the cat within now. Any vet should treat an emergency without an appointment. Will you please post more about the thoughtful of emergency it is? I say take him to the nearest vet regardless of appointments or not.
If your pet sitting did you call the owners? Maybe its something they already know about and are worrying roughly it later. If you call and they don't know what it is then next to their approval. Take him to the vet or if you think its really bad travel to a emergency clinic. I wouldn't wait if you don't think he's ok. If the vet say you have to put him down call the owners and see what they want to do. But its good that you call and scheduled an appointment
Answers: Cats do sometimes brand a terrible crying noise and it doesn't mean anything is wrong at adjectives - maybe he just wants to stir home. A very ill or contained by pain cat will usually hide and will shake or merely stare vacantly ahead. They will usually growl or hiss if you run near them and don't usually pace around.
A womanly cat in heat will make an alarming and blood curdling crack and owners usually panic and think the cat is unbelievably ill if they don't know what it is.
Is he trying to use the cat litter? If he's not been urinating, he could own a blockage which is a real medical emergency. Check the cat litter and if it looks like he desires to go for a pee but can't go, don't give him any wet and take him to an emergency vet! I hope he is OK. If he has been using his litter, afterwards don't panic - as I said a very ill cat won't tread around.
edit:
He might have a mouth infection or a bad tooth. That would stop him intake and drinking. I hope the vet was able to deal near it.
sick, hurt upset or dying cats hide. showing weakness in the frantic attracts predators, so they hide while they heal.
when a cat wants something, they come to you.
walking and crying funds he is lost, confused, wondering why he is in your house and what happened to his owner.
bring him to his food and litter box, he might be looking for them.
lay down with him. pet him. whether he settles down, he is fine.
do keep the vet appointment, though.
and, contact the owners, they will have to decide to put him down, whether the vet recommends it.
Keep your vet appt. in 2.5 hours and telephone call the owners immediately to find out if there is anything within the cat's history that you need to let the vet know about. Good Luck.
Stick with your appointment. There might be an alternative, to some extent than putting him/her down. I almost put my cat (of 4 years) down last month due to a sickness that we thought we wouldn't be able to nouns again...but they gave us another way. Ask them for a -all- options, later go from there.
Wait until your appt then you ll know whats wrong. Usually if its an emergency they can fit you in sooner, i would send for them back and insist they get you in sooner.
resourcefully let me hear the symptoms honey. i live on a farm, and have raise so many cats i can't keep track. maybe i can be of some assist.
You've got to take the cat to the vet. I have a very similar situation yesterday. We've had this cat for only four days (she's from the shelter), and yesterday morning she started bleeding from the antenna, at the same time trying to cuddle with us. I thought she was going to die and newly wanted to be held. We thought it could be some internal damage (because she had be on the street before the shelter, so who knows how she had be treated), so we prepared for the worst. But the vet said it was a severe respiratory infection, so the cat came back domestic with antibiotic prescription. As you can see, it could be something curable, even if it looks terminal. There could be hope, so please stick with the appointment. Good luck to you and the cat.
stick near the appointment and call the owner let them know whats going on.
If you have an appointment in 2.5 hours, stick beside it. Don't go running to another vet to put the cat down.
No vet will advise you without seeing the animal, nor will they merely put a cat down on your word without doing an exam. Just wait the 2 hours out and see what happens.
If you be cat sitting for me and just decided to have the cat put down lacking holding the appointment to get things properly checked out, I'd sue your butt.
