The most adjectives causes of runny eyes in cats are the same as what cause humans to get runny noses: respiratory viruses and allergies (feline respiratory infections sometimes call for antibiotics, feline allergies sometimes need to be managed next to steroids). Sometimes eye infections or scratched corneas are to blame (those require eye drops). A rarer but very possible cause of your cat's long-term discharge issues (my cat has this) is malformed tear-ducts that overproduce and/or can't satisfactorily reabsorb the output of tears needed to lubricate the eyeball. This is especially common in smooshed-faced cats such as persians but can come to pass in any cat (my kitty isn't smooshed-faced). In this case, nothing can really be done to "cure" the discharge.
The considerable thing to monitor is whether the discharge is yellow or green, thick, and crusty (bad) or is thin/runny and relatively clear (normal). Also spot whether your cat is squinting or winking shut his eyes in a way that suggests they are bothering him. My kitty's eyes are as a rule bright and open but have that telltale trail of unattractive goo running from the corners. If not here to himself he is often able to bathe it absent on his own (discharge from an infection would be more difficult for him to clean).
My first recommendation would be to stop wiping your cat's eyes with newspaper towels! Use a moistened cottonball instead. Paper towels are abrasive to your kitty's sensitive eye area and your using them is probably exacerbating the problem. Plus you risk scratching his corneas which can inflict him pain and damage to his sight! If the discharge is an harmful color and consistency he may have an infection from the daily irritation of the eye-wiping, or he may have allergies, any of which require veterinary treatment. If it seems to be just an extra supply of basic tears, just be thankful your kitty has a simple "cosmetic" issue and not an bug.
clutch hin to vets!
Answers: I would take him to another vet and seize a second opinion.
good luck!
p.s. think twice with home remedies, many do not work and some can be moderately harmful. I would not put milk in a cat's eyes.
i used green tea to wipe it and it hepled!!
your cat is probably allergic to cats, or people.
take it to the vet dear.
