Cats and hairballs..?

I feed my cat dry food and like to occasionally give him a drizzling food treat but sometimes he gets hairballs. I need something to cover my bed when I am gone for few days in travel case my cat has a hairball episode. His can get pretty messy. Any suggestions?
Brush their hair as often as you can (the longer their hair, the more you should do it). I have a short hair cat that hardly ever threw up (was quite rare), but I have a medium haired cat that did it constantly. We bought different brushes and combs for cats, and at least twice a day I would brush his spike, trying to get all of that excess hair bad of him. He would shed like crazy, and I was never able to hold him leave my lap knowing my next brush of his mane would not produce more hair. We also took tape (scotch mind you lol) and weakly applied it to his most loose hair areas to get more and more bad.

Try seeing how grass will do with your cat. Some cats can eat grass, and will not hack one up, and some will eat it (too much) and throw up. I have a short hair that hacked up hairballs constantly, and we purchased a grass patch just for cats, and funny ample it really did stop.

When I had my medium haired cat, we never owned any of the special grass, but my mother always kept big, leafy, live plants. My cat would guzzle the plants all day long, and it helped so he wouldn't hack up every light of day.
Brush your cat every daylight and consider buying a Furminator or other coat stripper for occasional use. Switch your cat to a premium diet. Cats whose diet is high in corn or wheat tend to shed much more. Ideally, their dry food shouldn't have any corn or wheat but it distinctly shouldn't higher than third in the ingredient list. If the first ingredient isn't meat, choose another food.

My cats are on a mix of partially dry and half canned; their dry food is Wellness. It's more expensive, but it has far more protein and far smaller amount filler so they shed very little. Try giving your cat hairball treats every few days (check the package for dosing) or give him a tiny pat of butter (about the size of your fingertip) every afternoon - this helps the hair pass through easily.
Answers:    groom your cat regularly to remove the dead down before your cat ingests it.

Feed it a high quality high-ranking protein canned cat food regularly. This will help the kitty pass some of the down it ingests. also proper nutrition will help keep your cat from excessive shedding http://www.catinfo.org

you can get tarps from any hardware store that would cover your bed
