Cats and milk ? ??////////?
can cats drink milk or does it have to be something special?
Water is best as a main source of hydration. Some cats don't tolerate milk (other than their mother's) ably.
Cats can't drink milk. Milk make them get sick. Most cats are lactose (which are sugars in milk) intolerant & drinking milk may result in an upset tummy & mete out diarrhoea. Nutritionally it is not necessary to give your cat milk. A bowl of water is average. Not all cats are lactose intolerant & a little milk as a treat is fine, however the only genuine way to find out if your cat is lactose intolerant is to try it on a bowl of milk & see if it cause diarrhoea. If you find your cat is okay with cow's milk then the occasional bowl is fine, but this should be given as a treat only.
Answers: cats are lactose intolerant. Never give them milk it will make them sick!
Cats do not digest cow's milk very in good health. You can give them KMR - Kitten Milk Replacement. It comes in powdered and liquid form. Of course, it's superfluous to give them anything outside of a healthy and regular diet.
Note: A few cats can drink cow's milk but it does basis health problems for others.
Milk is dangerous towards a cats vigour. I would suggest buying some special cat milk which you can find in the pet isle of the supermarket.
My cat loves it. so she gets some as a special sort of treat contained by the morning, usually on a weekend. It's a ritual, lol - Saturday mornings we sleep in and then carry a REAL breakfast. She'll tolerate the special cat milk, but for only so long before she gets tired of it and won't touch it.
I have given my cats milk before. But they are not permitted to any more than maybe a 1/4 cup. Its does give them the run's. And it is not a daily treat.
I've hear people say that milk is better for dogs than it is cats.
Most cats are lactose intollerant, so milk isn't totally appropriate. Can make for some diarrhea.
However, a tiny amount every now and then won't annihilate them (I'll sometimes pour a dime-sized puddle on the table for my cat to lap up)
CAT or KITTEN ??
CATS can sometimes own milk, but not too much. They may be lactose intolerant, and it could make them sick. The ONLY time that I advise giving a cat any cow's milk...is when they're constipated. Sometimes, drinking some milk will loosen up the bowels.
KITTENS should NEVER be given any cow's milk ( goat milk is ok ), because it WILL give them diarrhea, and they can take dehydrated and become sick very quickly.
KITTENS (up to 4-5 weeks) should hold KMR ( Kitten Milk Replacement ), or other "special" kitty milk, which you can get at a pet store, and some grocery stores.
So, depending on whether you're talking about an full-grown or a baby, this is your answer.
Hope it helps.Good luck.
Milk usually make cat's sick. They do have something in the store they sell specifically suppose to be milk for cats only, but mine didn't like it.
no they cant milk is full of lactose which is amazingly bad for kitty and will give kitty diarrhea if u turn to wal mart or petsmart (any pet store) they will have a special kind of milk for kitty to drink its whiskas and i get it for my cat. ITS ONLY FOR CATS NOT HUMANS lol.
The milk in great quantity is not good for their health.I give to my cat yogurt, dry cat food or chicken. You should donate it all t he proper nutrients in its nutrition
I've been told that even if they give the impression of being to be healthy while being given milk regularly, it can cause unseen, long-term robustness problems - the problem becomes seen a long way down the track.
Ours don't acquire any milk except *very* small amounts when they've had some kind of stress and I want to confer them "comfort" food. That's about 1-2 teaspoons about every 3 years! After having their bit of "consolation food" they tend to sit down and wash and that calms them down even further.
dogs and cats should not be given cows milk, too much lactose, it gives them diarrhea. They should have kitten chow.
