Cat's eye infected..?
My roommates and I have a cat, just this past week his eye started leak out this red stuff, I don't want to say it was blood, cause I'm not certain if it was. Now, his eyelid is all red, leak out pus and this other white stuff. Today when he woke up it was swollen shut (but it is now open). I told my roommate to take him to the vet, but she said he probably only just scratched it. Do we have to go? Or are there domestic remedies that we can do here?
If it be you, you would immediately go to a doctor, since eyesight is important to you. Why is the cat any different? The cat requirements to see a vet. It might be any of a number of easy to treat problems, but left undiagnosed is unwarranted to the cat. There are no home remedies. The idea that a cat could scratch his eyelid is far fetch. For one, they have a covering over their eye as protection. Ever notice they rarely blink? Their eyes own protection.
I'm not sure about Princess' answer. Before I would put Neosporin IN a cat's EYE, I'd hold to be told by a VET that it would be ok.
If you can afford internet service, you can afford to take the cat to a vet for an eye exam. Eyes are one of the most important organs that a cat has, and to transport a chance on infection (possible loss of sight), by not getting treatment, is irresponsible!
So..please take the poor cat to the vet and let him prescribe the PROPER medication for the eye.
Good luck.
Take him to the Vet ask you friend what if it were her eye what would she do? As for a domestic remedy put a warm wash cloth over it for about 5 minutes at a time and do this at most minuscule every other hour. You know Just take Her To The VET and get it taken care of.
Yes, you definitely need to take him to a professional. Do not put any human medication (Neosporin) into a cat's eye lacking express instructions from your vet. The cat may have "just scratched it," but a scratched eye will not alleviate properly without medication, so regardless of the possibilities, you need to have it checked by a doctor. Not doing so could organize to permanent damage.
try a little wipe of neosporin in the eye if this doesnt clear it up then the vet is your subsequent best step
I wold say carry him to the vet ASAP. Eye problems can turn very serious in cats. This one sounds pretty bad already, it could be zilch, but it could be bad (which I think it may be). I would go to vet as to not risk it getting worse and him losing the eye (which can haooen, I've see it lots of times on ferals that have come into the rescue I volunteer at). Good Luck.
I would definitely lug it in, especially like whether you try to go near its eye and it pulls away.
My cat have similar problems so we took it in and it had like a spikey article inside the eye. The vet had to pull it out and my cat was screaming so loud i feel so bad, but after that she was better.
thats what come up to my kitty.
we just took him to the vet and he gave us some special cream to put on her aye and day by year ity got better.
u should proabably go to the vet
Answers: The problem could be a virus which would not respond to antibiotics. Also... Never use any medication on your pets without first calling the vet to ask if it is ok. Some human meds can be fatal to our pets.
If your friend will not bring the cat to the vet for a diagnosis (which is the best idea) gently swab the eye with a cotton ball wet through but not dripping with warm water to keep hold of it clean and remove any crusty material.
Keep an eye on it and if it does not clear up, a trip to the vet is important for the cat's health.
