Cat's eye oozing... please aid?
my cat is really old. she is like 8 or 9 years old. or even elder i dont really know.
but she is really overweight. (13 lbs last vet visit) and we have tried dieting her and stuff but it doesnt work.
anyway.
her eye is oozing black goopy stuff. this happen frequently but goes away on its own. i just dont know what it is.
and this time she can scarcely see out of that eye. and i just feel so bad for her.
does anyone know what it is??
(she is resembling severely afraid of people and is almost impossible to see a vet because of it... she only go to get her shots.)
As much as she hates the vet, nick her! Who knows what it is, and you wouldn't want to end up having her blinded or have to remove her eye.
At least call your vet, they may recommend using triple antibiotic lotion to try to clear it up, but ask for their opinion.
My cat had the same problem! Also my cat was approaching 14 pound and her eye oozed all the time. Well anyway what we did be wipe it off every day and we knew that it be though. The ooze is just a residue from an eye infection you may need to talk to you vet to bring back some eye drops to get ride of it but i donno for sure.
Honey, swallow your cat's pride and fear of inhabitants for her, and get her to a vet.
Never second guess yourself when it comes to your pet's health. Unlike a child, they can't recount you where it hurts. She doesn't like going to the vet. No animal does. Some people don't similar to going to the doctor. When it's a matter of our own health, we have to though. Your cat may not close to it, but even she realises it's for her own good.
If you can't get her to the vet, read up on an antibiotic ointment call Terramycin Ointment, aka Oxytetracycline. It can be obtained over the counter, or your vet. It's not cheap, but still may not cost as much if purchased over the counter at Pet Smart, or even Petco. Wall mart may have it as all right. From what I've read, it is only available as a prescription in California. If you have to, ask your vet give or take a few it before using it.

It sounds close to an incurable disease, but I can't remember the name of it. You should put it to sleep so it doesn't have to suffer anymore.
Answers: Get some allergy drops for her eyes and keep them clean and dry. Use drops 3x per time. Good luck.
