Cat's throwing up food ?
Hi, my cat is about two years old, he went to the vet, and get checked up, and shots about two months ago. Recently after he eats chicken or any meat for that matter he throws up after a few hours. The food comes out undigested (whole), not individual the food, but he empties out his whole stomach. We've stopped feeding him any meat, ( even though he's beseeching alot!) and put him on a strict dry food and milk/water diet. My mom also put some pullistila(homeopathic medicine) in his milk, and if this helps any, he seem to be drinking a lot of milk.. his nose is also runny (wet when I touch it) Help please! =/
could be a hairball... or a number of other things.. very very first, stop the milk.. that can be upsetting his tummy worse... my first suggestion is to try a different diet... try cooking up plain rice and browning hamburger (be certain and drain the grease!) and mix them up and have him eat it.. he might not at first.. most cats are not fans.. but kind sure that's all he has available, and he'll get through it when he's hungry enough.. keep him on it for a week or two and see if it help... also, go to a pet store or walmart and ask for hairball remedies... they have lubricating pastes that work okay.. like Hartz salmon flavored hairball remedy...
if these things do not help... nick him back to the vet.. or call him..not chewing his food is odd...i hold one that does it, but he's just an idiot..haha... could indicate some stomach issue ... because he's acting starved...
Cats should devour cat food only. That is what it is made for. Cats cannot digest most dairy products properly due to the lactose. If you noticed he vomits when you give him meat, afterwards just stop giving him meat. If the food comes up whole and undigested then you can bet he is intake too fast and not chewing it.Feed him dry cat food and water. Do not try to be a homeopathic vet on your own.
Answers: No meat whatsoever? That cannot be what you really mean, but purely that you are not feeding any wet food that contains meat. Otherwise, you have a serious long occupancy problem, since cats MUST have meat. By dry food, I hope you mean dry cat food.
Most cats, once they are weaned, become lactose intolerant, so you want to make certain giving milk to him is not part of the problem.
As far as meat, some cats find chicken and turkey to be too rich, and will have digestive problems. Changing to beef or fish often solves that problem.
