Causes of sly uti?
we use feline Pine for the litter box (so no clay dust) if that's relevant; kitty is very diligent roughly keeping her fur clean; what are the causes of this type of infection in cats?
pine is not honest for cats, I would suggest getting some better litter, and I hope that you have been to the vet for proper diagnosis and a urine tryout for crystals etc. and you have her on antibiotics and possiably perscription food.
make sure that your cat is drinking adequate.
I'd switch bad of the Feline Pine. It's kiln dried, but I don't trust pine whether it's kiln dried or not. It's been proven to make happen respiratory and liver damage in small animals kept on it.
One common motive of UTI's is... believe it or not... dry cat food. Fact of the matter is, wet/canned is much healthier. The reason is, surrounded by the wild, cats normally get most of their hose down content directly from their prey items and drink very little. Domestic cats are no different, and because of the fact that they are designed to take contained by water with their meal, they own a very low thirst drive. Cats often just don't drink satisfactory. This leads to urinary tract infections and crystals. The bit about dry food being better for teeth is a myth and have not been proven in the least (cats by a hair`s breadth even chew their dry food and, really, does a pretzel clean /your/ teeth? Cats should have their teeth brushed with cat toothbrushes and cat toothpaste at tiniest a few times a week as well as see the vet for dental cleanings when necessary /regardless/ of what they are being fed). Canned/wet food is better because it more closely mimics the cat's raw diet. More on why canned food is best:

Another alternative to get cats to drink more would be a cat fountain. Cats tend to like to drink from running water and cat fountains see to that call for, encouraging cats to take in more water.

Answers: I doubt the subtle pine has anything to do with. Compressed pine is nothing close to pine shavings which are very aromatic. Pine shavings primarily affected animals close to rodents with very sensitive respiratory systems that lived their entire lives directly in pine. That's remarkably different from your cat occasionally hopping into her litter box to pee in compressed pine pellets. I personally resembling feline pine and use if for my cats and my rabbits litter boxes..
I've adopted cats beside uti problems in the past and primarily it seems to be cause by dry food. Even quality kibble can't change the fact that it's a dried out food. Cat's have a low thirst drive thanks to the fact that they are obligate carnivores who would've gotten most of their fluid intake from unbroken prey animals. Because of that, cats that eat kibble due to the combination of dehydration and the presence of Ash from the processing are a lot more prone to UTI then a cat on a feature canned or raw diet..
Obviously, the more concentrated the urine is, the more risk of issues. Often, a UTI is concurrent with urinary crystals from the dehydration. The urinary crystals end in damage to the urethra which allows infection an easier chance at taking hold. Because female cats resembling female humans have a much shorter urethra then males, they are more prone to urinary infection later males BUT less prone to blockage from crystals.
I feed my cats a raw diet and don't hold any trouble with UTI's and haven't had trouble with them for a long time in a minute. That's with two of my cats previously having so much trouble with them that their preceding owners surrendered them for euthanasia!
If you don't want to do a raw diet now, I would suggest a ability canned food like Innova Evo supplemented with the occasional RAW chicken or turkey d¨Ścolletage to keep their teeth in good shape..
it is a PH problem. If their urine is to alkaline they make the crystals.
just putting a drop or two of lemon juice within the water will help.
there are immediately cat food out there that is good for urinary tract robustness and that has made a real difference with my cats.
I also present them cranberry pills on occasion.
