Christmas Trees and Cats?

Is it true that it is bad for cats to drink the water from the bottom of the christmas tree, like the hose down in the christmas tree stand? Someone told me that the sap from the tree mixes in the water and is disadvantageous to the cat.
A little tree hose down won't hurt the cat. If this is the only problem you have with your cat(s) and Christmas trees, you are lucky.
I've never heard that. But I have never have that particular problem with my three cats either. Usually they approaching to climb in the tree and play with the ornaments. I have one that like to lay under the tree and just look at the lights and stuff, she doesnt do anything else. Its really cute.

I would say as long as you dont hold any preservative in the water, it should be ok. You can always verbs the skirt up over the top of the stand and just move it when you add water.
I never hear anything about the water from a live Christmas tree being insalubrious to a cat. However, I have heard that some Christmas plants such as poinsettias, holly, and mistletoe can be harmful whether eaten by pets.
No, it won't hurt them. They might find a bit of an upset tummy if they get too much of it, but that will then "teach" them to stay absent from it after that. My cats drink from the irrigation ditch that runs passed our house during the summer months. That isn't exactly the cleanest of water, but they don't seem the worse for wear. I other have clean water outdoors for them, particularly in the winter months (heated water bowl!), so if they drink from the ditch, it's their choice.

I don't know if that's true but last year(this year we own a fake tree)my cat cocoa drank the water in the stand and be just fine so i think it should be ok

hope this helped
No, the hose down from the bottom of the Christmas tree is not harmful. I have six cats and none of them have ever gotten sick surrounded by any way shape or form. Half of the time my cats will go for different water other after their own fresh cold water. One of my older kittens named Echo be found in the toilet..His whole body. Feet in the dampen but he was having a hard getting a drink of marine because his body was in the way.He did look terribly funny. I'm not in the habit of keeping my toilet seat up but in recent times one time is all it took for Echo to jump right in.
