Do you ponder its undeserved to preserve a cat surrounded by a flat?

My partner and I are thinking about getting a cat. The only problem is we live in a flat. The cat wouldn't be capable of go outside as 1) we would have to live him/her out until we come home from work & 2) the flat is next to a train line.
If we are to find a cat, we would get two, and they would be loved a lot!
Basically what I’m asking is; do you think its unmerited to have a house cat?
Thank you for your comments.

House cats live longer than outdoor cats my first cat was originally an indoor cat as I used to live in a flat as capably just make sure that if/when you do move to somewhere where on earth they can go out that they get the necessary vaccination regardless of their age. My cat is now twenty and although she has the option to shift out she does prefer to stay indoors in her twilight years
We have 3 cats. 1 is an outdoor and 2 are indoor. The 2 indoor cats have never certain any different so in my opinion I dont think theres anything wrong next to it. I worry about our outdoor cat all the time so its nicer to own indoor cats. Just make sure they have lots of nice toys to play near and are given lots of kisses and cuddles and they'll be extremely happy! Its a good idea to gain 2 aswell so they can play throughout the day together and keep each other company. Overall I would read aloud no, its not unfair at all. Have fun with your cute little animals!
Then leave your cats in untill you come domestic from work .Why confine them to a life time indoors if they ae healthy. If the cat have a disability (deaf/blind) then yes.but not if its healthy. You can choose to way of walking out your door on a lovely sunny day and walk in the sunshine. Why deny your cat that choice.
They are going to be stuck contained by 6hrs a day while your working.so at least allow them out while your home,
All my adult life span i've had apartments & indoor kittens & cats, but this was in New York City & surrounding areas. I wouldn't dare consent to them out. They never seemed to care either style. I up their indoor stimuli with a cat tree, worth every penny! In the US they sell many different sizes on EBAY, the untried ones have free shipping (perhaps the same in the UK), or you can carry them at the pet store usually. I have indoor cat perches on some glass sills that they love hanging out in. I keep the TV or radio on low when I dance out or go to work. I'd do the same if I lived surrounded by a rural area.
my cat lived her whole live external for 20-21yrs and when she had to go to the vet he said she wouldnt have lived that long whether she were an indoor cat. its how she built up her immunities and knew her kingdom and boundaries. if you can let it out and live in a locked quiet area go for it. whether you cant try and stay with it outside so it doesnt wander.. its a 50/50 and individual you know for sure in the end..
I do think it's unfair and potentially al little cruel

Not all cats close to to go outside, but it's very difficult to find this out until you enjoy them.

Most cats do like to go out at some point, even our timid little elderly cat, who stays in 99% of the time get cranky if she can't go out and get some fresh nouns, some grass, or chase the birds.Staring out the window isn't enough

My cat stays in the house during the day while im at work and go out for a couple of hours when i get back, it doesnt seem to bother her. If i lived by a train procession like you, i dont think i would let her out at adjectives to be fair. I think if a cat is raise as an indoor cat then they don't really know anything different and as long as you give them plenty of attention when your home i give attention to you would be fine.
I think it's natural for cats to be out and about doing their stuff when they are not asleep, so it could be cruel to evacuate an active cat indoors, but maybe you could visit a rescue nub and see if they have any cats that would appreciate being kept indoors.I am certain there are cats that would enjoy being contained by the flat all day but if you get a bit of a hunter he wouldn't enjoy it, would he?
Its not unfair. House cats fashion great pets. Even if you were in a relatively risk-free place and could let them outside, its not a good view. Animals that are let out and not confined to a back yard can draw from run over or lost. As long as they get the proper care they need, they will be completely contented as inside cats.
I have 3 siamese cats and I live in a a bit small condo my cats are very happy and healthy. My evaluation is that cats are safer kept indoors at all times anyways because so many terrible things can come to pass to them outside like being hit by a sports car, catching disease from other cats or people being cruel to them, cat fights etc. I would never allow mine external they mean to much to me to risk their lives outside.
I think that you should contact local rescue centres and ask for cats that are already used to person indoors...dont get a kitten and keep it like that...its basically not natural.
I hold kept cats in flats and they can go out. You will find they will wait external until someone lets them back in, afterwards scratch at YOUR door. Train lines are no big deal.. Cats aren't dumb, you know. They can survive anywhere. I live in the middle of the Black Country and my neighbour's cat sits heat on my door mat till her dad comes home.
No, it's not unfair. An indoor cat is healthier, happier and a better companion. Best of all you don't enjoy to worry!

Glad you are getting two...twice the fun!

good luck!
Not at adjectives. I have four cats and live in an apartment. They are all purely fine. I do let them go out on my balcony (I'm up on the third floor) from time to time, particularly when the weather is nice. They always stay right there and just keep under surveillance the birds and play with bugs. Otherwise they are perfectly fine indoors. Just make certain to get extra toys and scratching posts. A laser pointer is their favorite toy. Enjoy!
I really do believe that cats need to be allowed out. But what you could do is go to a shelter and ask for a cat that is FIV positive. These cats are impeccably healthy, but they can't go out. That way you would be giving a dependent cat a loving home.
It is fine! Good idea to get two! They keep respectively other company and can play and snuggle together while your away. I would try to pick a breed/temperament that is on the laid back side. One next to tons of energy might get frustrated at the small area of a flat.
Hope this help! : )
Nope, I have two indoor kitties and they are perfectly at ease.
No way! As long as they have something to stimulate them, a pious diet, and lots of love they're fine inside! You could also teach your cats how to walk on a leash so if you ever go to a park or anything they could go=) Good luck!
We own two cats in a fairly large 2-bedroom apartment. They seem to be happy enough and aren't lacking for stimulation and places to be in motion. I think having two of them for company and additional stimulation make a big difference though.

I think in this case it is better to catch two. Of course their vet and food costs are doubled, but they are a lot better behaved by having someone to pocket out their energy on and are not lonely while we're not home. Overall, it's really not that great of an extra strain on us to hold the second one.

I generally don't think it's cruel to maintain them in as long as they have ways to entertain themselves and you play beside them as well.

I think the most important article is that you get cats that don't know any better. In fact, for little kittens a new house can be pretty intimidating and own MANY possibilities for exploration. There's no need at that stage to let it go to the external world as well, especially without its mother and litter for protection. If they never live contained by the outside world, they'll never know what (if anything) they are missing. On the other hand, whether you get a somewhat older cat that has experienced the outdoors, they might find the adjustment to some extent painful.
how is it unfair? cats should other remain indoors for their own health and safety. make certain they stay indoors and that they are spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccinations.
I live contained by a flat 3 storeys high
and i have a cat who never goes out side But he have lots of toys to play with and he loves it :)
please go out and get a cat but trade name sure that you get HIM/
her sexed . the last ting this world wishes is more homeless skinny cats :(
All my cats (except the 1st one) were 100% indoor cats - most lived long and healthy lives near no problems.
As long as they've never be outside before :)
Not at all. indoor cats are just as happy as outdoor, plus, no fleas!
I believe that house cats are improved than outdoor cats. They can also be just as happy if you draw from them plenty of toys and they still get plenty of sunlight. As far as the train line goes bring back a younger cat and they will get used to it.If you get two cats make certain that they are spayed and neutered we have enough unwanted kittens within this world.Adoption is always good.
Yeah it will be a house cat- go for it x

It is perfectly fine and safer to have indoor cats but I would hold 2 as 1 cat would get lonely.I have 3 indoor cats and I give them biscuits that are particularly for indoor cats as they can gain weight. It would be nice if you could play with them for 20-30 mins when you come domestic just to make sure they are getting ample exercise plus it's bonding time.

Enjoy being owned it's rewarding.

Cats are kept in flats by people who right to be heard they are perfectly happy. I would however, presume the cats in cross-question would give a days food to get out in the garden whether they could but we cant.
Personally I think its cruel t keep them inside, I have have cats all my life and going outside to chase, sunbathe or merely roam is a necessary part of their existence.
Any pshyics on where on earth is my cat?   Can you breed a wolf and a cat?   Why is my cat peeing?   How do I flog a found cat?
