Does my cat's extremely impossible fishy smelling breath indicate a medical problem?
This could be several things. If you have not changed her food and it have come on pretty suddenly then it is unlikely the diet.
Certainly it could be her mouth or kidneys. But in my experience there have been one part of their body that is outstandingly distinctive in omitting a fishy smell and that is the anal gland.
I would hold her seen by the vet.
She may have simply released the glands when cleaning herself but if they are infected it can front to a very painful abscess that requires medical help and lots times surgery.
Good luck.
Sometimes yes, sometimes no! A cat I knew have a bad smell because she had a mouth infection that was connected to a kidney dead loss.
Another cat just had bad teeth.
But I also hold a cat with a bad smell, and she is healthy, the vet said it is freshly her smell! Or it may have to do with what she eats.
However, a vet check is recommended, because it could be crude, but it could be associated with a health problem.
It probably just means its be eating fish or fishy cat food.
You could try brushing its teeth, they make pet toothpaste and toothbrushes- good for its dental hygiene, but it probably won't resembling it much.
No. It just means that what he/she is eating, is meaty. Meat make their breath smell. They must eat meat though!
You can get them treats, that are made for takeing away fruitless breath, that if you give it to them a balanced amount of times, next it will bocecome better.
Hope this helps.
Answers: It could. It can be the first sign of kidney disease, which is treatable, or it could be an infection in the cat's gums or a infected tooth which are also easily treatable. You need to appropriate your cat to a vet soon. You don't want to let it go to long.
I doubt it. But, I would check your fishtank and neighbours ponds and do a count up. My cat once gobbled up some very expensive carps - from a neighbours pond - oops!
