Does the pedipaw work as economically as the commercials propose?
Honestly, those cats within the commercial look sedated. I know mine would never sit still like that. I've never tried it myself. My dog is very good nearly having her nails trimmed and I don't trim my cat's nails (they love their scratch posts).
Never tried it because it looks similar to it makes noise which my cats hate. It is so natural for me to trim my cats' nails with an inexpensive human nail clipper. I hang on to nail clippers in a few rooms (by the bed and the couch) so when a cat is sleepy, I can easily pocket advantage of the moment to trim their nails. The human nail clipper is small and not so intimidating to the cats. When I bought a big pet pin clipper, my cats were scared of it. If you need to clip your cat's nail, start by touching the tops of their paws for a few seconds, and then grant them a treat. Keep increasing the time for touching their paws and giving them a treat until they are comfortable, and possibly even purring when you touch their feet. As you touch their paws, notify them they are getting a lovely manicure and they are beautiful. Eventually, you will be able to push on the top of their toe to extend the claw. Clip below the white vein to prevent them from bleeding and or hurting them. It is easier to do this when they are contained by a sleepy mood, not a playful mood. Pay attention to the cat's body language. If the cat starts tiring of it, wait to do the manicure later. Otherwise, the cat will take in the habit of pulling away from you. Start out by clipping just one or two nails at a time. Then give the cat a treat. The cat will soon be in the dependence of not pulling away from you everytime if you are careful, contribute treats, don't touch the paws for too long a period of time, and don't force it too much. I've been trimming my cat's nail for 7 years and my new kitten's nails for 3 months. I got both of my cats when they be 6 months old. I can't brush their teeth, but I can trim their nails. It will get easier.
Answers: I never tried it either. But was also curious. It looks so big and bulky. I will be watching this post to see what others have to utter.
I never had any problem with the regular old pet or human clippers.
