Does your cat ask for okay to guzzle,even when they already enjoy their food within front of them?
I think like many cats...she's a bit absorbed with food. Three out of my four cats do this.and I've had many cats within the past do this. I think they get used to entreating and will beg even when there is food there!
One of my cats does precisely what your cat does. I will show him the food...then I have to stand there while he starts ingestion.
I have one of 5 that demands to lick the spoon off back he will eat.
It's a little "trick" they pick up and love doing. Mine started by not giving him the flavor of meat he wanted at that moment, but he would other eat the gravy & there was other some gravy to scrape out of the can at the end. This maybe what started your cat too.

Answers: I had to start picking up my cats food recently when one of them went on a special diet. Now that he's adjectives better I started leaving the food out in the gravity feeder. When I walk by the food they adjectives meow and jump up to the bowl and yes I do have to point it out to them. I think it's their passageway of showing respect and saying thank you.
ask your vet she might be partaly blind or have something wrong with her eyes
