Does your cat catch into your christmas tree and gifts?

We got our tree last night ..its 10 and 1/2 foot. Our cats were climbing and destroying branches all night. Do your cats stroke this way also? I am scared to put gifts under the tree becasue I own a feeling they will rip those up too. What do you do to prevent this?
My cat get into everything! He loves closets, laptops, plants and trees, shower curtains. The only excuse I have is that hes still a kitten. I'm sorry, I don't know of a solution to help you. Maybe after a few days they will bring used to it and not bother it has much. Good Luck!
Use apple bitter spray on the tree, you can get it at any pet store. As far as the gifts, get some tulle/small mesh fabric from the craft store and drape it over the gifts, tucking it beneath the gifts so they can't climb underneath the fabric. Cats don't like stuff that sticks to them so this will really bug them and they won't want to get matted up. Also you can get something pretty like red or green :) The other option is aluminum foil but a few cats enjoy eaten it and can get veeeeeerrry sick. Also its not as pretty as tulle. Good luck!
yes, yes, yes.shut the door on them so they cant ruin the branches of the tree and more importantly presents.
=] g-luck
yes my cats knock over my 4ft pink tree so i locked them out of my bedroom...when we grasp the big tree i am curious to see how they act...I just worry they could chomp through something harmful. You can wait to it gets closer to xmas to out the presents out.
My cats LOVE the trees i set up. (big house 2 trees...*groan*) What i do is sit next to one or follow the cats around next to a water spray bottle and spray em if they try to climb it. They learn hasty enough.
yes! my cat will start opening gifts and playing with bows. my cat doesnt really play next to the tree only the bottom branches. he also likes to hide losing the tree when my dog is bieng annoying. lol. its pretty funny cuz my cats old hes like 15.
Yes! cats love Christmas trees! the smell, the height everything. Don't verbs my cats are like this even with a plastic one! Me and my mom have established to have them around the tree when were home so we can study them but when we leave were going to put them in the bathroom basically to be safe, as for the presents, yea put those away until Christmas ok?
Try spraying the tree with spray scents, found surrounded by your local pet store. That should keep the cat away from your tree.
Answers:    Cats love Christmas trees and decorations. My older cat, age 11, now ignore the tree and stuff. But when she was younger, she was a pest. We now hold another cat that is a kitten still. She like to lounge under the tree and I own seen her chew on the branches and it is artificial. The kitten also keeps knocking my pine roping down from the mantle. I've have lots of cats over the years (like 8) and they have all had some features of interest in the Christmas decorations. However, nothing they ever did was too destructive. They do close to to bat at the dangling glass balls at the bottom, so you might consider not hanging anything on the particularly bottom to avoid this. Also, don't hang those tinsel icicle things. I stopped using those years ago when I saw them in the cats poop. The vet said they can obstruct the intestines. So, mind your Ps and Qs with those. A good way to save your cat away from the tree is a Christmas Tree scat mat. This is a scat mat (a flat mat that you plug in that delivers a static safe shock when touched) that is shaped like two donut halves. You simply wrap the two halves around the base of the tree (the gap is for the tree stand), plug it in and place your tree skirt over it. They work. They also sell these for counter tops and any where else you wouldn't want your cat. I know some family think these are inhumane, but my vet says they are really harmless and that it will probably lug only one or two shocks and you cat will probably stay away. You can probably unplug it at that point. Be careful whether you have small children because they will get shocked too and while harmless, will terrify them and they will cry.
Yes, it's all fun and games until they knock an bauble off and break it. That's why I use the water spray bottle.
What does a hairball look resembling?   My kitten have pea size lumps on her leg. What could it be?   How can I go and get cat fur out of my motor?   What would you do?
