Getting a cat from Overseas backbone domestic to the U.S...? ?
I am currently overseas and have made friends with an adorable little manly kitten. Does anyone know what steps I will need to take/go through to start the process of getting him home? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Answers: Hi nearby... first be sure to contact all airlines and ask about their pet travel policies for flying internationally into the USA. Some airlines will allow in-cabin travel, but most require stowage transport. Depending on where you will be coming from... will determine if your new kitten will entail to be quarantined. Additionally, nearly all airlines will require the following:
- microchipping
- up-to-date vaccinations 30 days BEFORE departure
- health ticket signed by a veterinarian within 10 days of departure (this varies from each airline so be certain to inquire)
- IATA certified travel crate with clearly visible stickers stating "LIVE ANIMAL" Most airlines will have the stickers available for purchase at the ticketing counter, however please ask contained by advance as some do not
