Help ! Kitty Farts are slaughter us?
I have a 4 month old kitten who's farts are killing us. Even the flies will drop bad the wall when he farts. What can I do?
He eats Science Diet Kitten food dry and 1/4 can wet daily. Water is available 24/7 for him.
He is not processing his food well. Science Diet is not a great food. Try switching to Wellness. It is easier to digest. It is not that much more expensive and you will be able to hold open flame in the house again with no worries. ;-)
Kittens are certain for wonky digestion, but it's most likely that the food disagrees with him. It may work itself out in time but I outstandingly recommend you change foods.
It would be a good idea to hold a stool sample analyzed by the vet. Because you never know - it could be a condition or a parasite.
Back to the food - when Poppy was a kitten she had tons of problems. I tried other foods until I found one where on earth at least she didn't fart, although she still had loose stool. Turns out she's highly sensitive to grain so the solution for her was to eat a grainless canned food simply - no dry food at all.
Your kitty could be the same.
Ask the vet.
Like all living mammals, cats fart. Fact of life.
The WORST entity you can do is stop the wet food. Stop the Science Diet. It is PURE CRAP. Cats can not digest the carbs because they are obligate carnivores (they have to eat meat), and insufficiency the enzymes.
Change the kitten to an all canned grain free diet. Wellness, Innova and some varities of Fancy Feast are small piece free. And wet food IS NOT too rich for kittens-it is the correct diet.
If you feel you must nurture dry food, use a low carb one like Wellness Core or Innova EVO.
Here is a good site for information on feeding your cat: http://catinfo.org
Changing the diet won't stop adjectives the farting-that is just a natural by product of digestion. But it sure will assistance!!
Answers: Lots of cats cannot digest corn - it give them tummy upsets, diarrhea, and/or gas. I have one that can clear out a room if he even smells food with corn surrounded by it - OK, I'm exaggerating, but he cannot have even a trace of corn in his food. Science Diet is really full of corn. For the same price, or lately a hair more, you can get Innova's EVO or Wellness Core. Both of them are grain free, and are suitable for a growing kitten (for those who don't believe me I dare you to compare the nutritional analysis on the two foods - it's all about nutrition, not "special kitten formula"). They don't produce the stink issue that the corn-laden foods do, and he should do well on them.
The canned food is probably giving him gas, whether it's not ALSO kitten food. A lot of canned foods are too "rich" for kittens.
Try giving him ONLY dry for awhile.no canned.and see if his tummy settles down.
I've other fed my cats dry food, and have never had a problem beside gas.
Hope this helps.Good luck.
Been there, done that! All 5 of mine had horrible gas.
I switched their food and for the most segment its cleared up. I feed mine Meow Mix original flavor.
Good luck!
but him external. take him to a vet. iy cat did the same thing. perhaps it just needs to go to the bathroom deeply. to you take it to the bathroom when it does
The grain free Wellness is categorically a good suggestion Cats usually do not have gas unless they are consumption something that their body can't handle. The food is a little more expensive but in my view it pays for itself in the form of less vet visits. If you establish to change foods make sure you slowly work within the new food so you don't upset your kitty's tummy any more. Start by doing mostly the current food and add just for a while bit of new food. Slowly add more new food and grow less the amount of old food. Canned food is good for your cat because it has more vital moisture than dry food, so don't stop giving that to your cat (in fact increasing it a little is a good idea). Again basically make sure you don't change him over too rapidly.
I hope this helps!
The vet can give you pills so he won't fart. My kitten always used to fart so much, but now he doesn't.
I would change his food. Science diet, although "prescribed by vets" is actually a poor quality food. Look into other brands approaching Wellness, Innova, Taste of the Wild, to name a few. These brands are a more well-balanced diet with better ingredients. Good luck to you.
